Rogowski Coil

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here worked on making a Rogowski coil in PCB format?

I am trying to design one, but I need to split a full circular coil into two semicircle PCBs (or multiple pieces) and then join them together so they behave like a single continuous Rogowski coil.

I’d like advice on:

  • How to route the traces so that the winding direction is consistent across the two halves.

  • Best way to connect the two semicircles electrically (pads, vias, connectors, or solder joints) without introducing extra loops or mismatches.

  • How to maintain symmetry in the turns, spacing, and geometry so the coil response stays accurate.

  • Any mechanical alignment tips so the halves form a clean circle around the conductor under test.

  • Shielding or grounding practices for PCB-based Rogowski coils.

If anyone has examples (KiCad/Altium layouts, photos, or papers) of PCB Rogowski coils split into multiple boards, it would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot it will be very helpful for me in designing the coil structure.
