Do I need to include the drill file separately or can it be embedded in the odb?
Should I include impedance-controlled traces in a separate layer file or just note them in the fab drawing?
What’s the min drill size you can reliably manufacture?
Add a note in your fab drawing. Include details like layers on which impedance controlled traces are present, value, reference planes, etc.
If you are sending the data in ODB++ format, drill file can be embedded, if the data is in Gerber 274X format a separate file for drill is required.
We can easily go down to 2-3mils with laser drilling, 5mils with mechanical drilling. We’ve done 1-1.5mils but this requires more time and early prep with the customers for us to build the boards.
