Do we need to do impedance control for laying out USB differential routing in a 50mm x 50mm PCB?
This really isn’t a yes/no question. Do you really “need to”? I dunno, which version of USB are you using? What is the fastest data rate you expect? Did you make the traces as close to the correct size as possible in the layout file? Aiming for 50 ohms is one thing, putting it in the fab notes to guarantee it is something else; and will do the job, but at extra cost. Is it really likely to make much of a difference on a very small board? Probably not. Judgement call.
