One of the most common misconceptions I see is that PCB layout is simply the process of drawing copper traces after the schematic is finished. In reality, that’s where many of the most important engineering decisions begin.
Once you move from the schematic to the layout, you’re no longer just defining electrical connectivity, you’re translating that design into something that can actually be manufactured. That means thinking about the board stack-up, layer count, component placement, routing strategy, controlled impedance, manufacturability, and much more.
