Heat sink installation

I’m working on a project that uses a TO-220 package with a heat sink requirement. I’m curious about the typical practice for heat sink installation:

  1. Is it standard for assembly shops to install heat sinks during PCB production, or is this usually done by the company integrating the PCB into their final product?
  2. In my case, I’d prefer to have the assembly shop handle it, but I’m unsure if this is a common request.

Both are done, but having it done at the assembly stage (i.e. the CM) is far more common than the integration stage (i.e. you).
