7 ways to reduce propagation delay in your PCB design

How do you reduce your propagation delay?

  1. Add length correction to the point of discontinuity at the source.
  2. Place length compensation close to the bends.
  3. No compensation needed if distance between two bends are closer than 15mil.
  4. Compensate length differences in vias.
  5. Route differential pairs within the same interface on the same layer.
  6. Ensure trace lengths inside the pads are equal.
  7. Prefer symmetrical breakout of differential pairs.
  8. Use small loops for shorter traces instead of serpentine lines if there is enough space between pads.
