WEBINAR HIGHLIGHT: Maintain Optimum Trace Width and Spacing

Quick tip: How close can you route to the edge?

When you’re routing traces, don’t hug the edge too tightly (LOL). Aim for at least 5–10 mils, depending on board thickness. If you’re using V-score, push it out further since more material gets removed. Some shops offer jump scoring, which lets you go tighter, so ask!

Also good to know: what copper foil is your fab starting with, and how much plating are they adding? That affects how much trace shape (trapezoid!) and etching shortfall you’ll get.

Bottom line: talk to your fab. It’ll save you headaches later.
