Adding the proper border to a schematic diagram

Hello,
I’m trying to create an electronics schematic diagram, but I don’t know what to call the standard border around a schematic. I need to add that border to my schematic so it adheres to the requirements.
I’d like to know if the standard border has a name.
I’d also like to know how to add that border to my schematic. I currently only have to Visio as my schematic creation tool.

Regards,
Kent

The standard border around a schematic is generally referred to as a border and title block. Title block contains important information about the drawing like (Company name, Drawing title, Drawing number, Revision history, Date drawn, Author detail, Scale information).

How to Add the Border to Your Visio Schematic:

  • Open your schematic in Visio.

  • Go to the Design tab in the Visio ribbon.

  • In the “Page Background” group, click on Borders & Titles.

  • A gallery of pre-designed border and title block styles will appear. Scroll through them and select the style that best suits your requirements.

Hi Dilip,

Thank you for the quick reply. It’s appreciated.
I went through the steps that you mentioned below, but the standard border for electronic schematics isn’t available.

Here’s a picture of one of our schematics. The border around the edge is the standard border that I’m referring to in our conversation.
The border is the black line around the outside of the drawing. The border has numbers (on the horizontal surfaces), letters (on the vertical surfaces), arrows and line-markers (on both surfaces)

Can you help me to identify a name for this border style?
Can you help me to generate this border style in Visio?

Hello All,

Please remove the image, that I sent in the previous email, from your support website. I didn’t realize that the image would be posted to support website.

Hello Kent,

We never used Visio software for schematic diagram creation. We are using other software’s like cadence, Altium, Kicad.

Ah ha! That’s what I thought. Visio can’t do it.
Thank you very much for your support.

I would recommend you try KiCad.
