**Quick tip: How close can you route to the edge?**

When you’re routing traces, don’t hug the edge too tightly (LOL). Aim for **at least 5–10 mils** , depending on board thickness. If you’re using **V-score** , push it out further since more material gets removed. Some shops offer **jump scoring** , which lets you go tighter, so ask!

**Also good to know:** what copper foil is your fab starting with, and how much plating are they adding? That affects how much trace shape (trapezoid!) and etching shortfall you’ll get.

**Bottom line:** talk to your fab. It’ll save you headaches later.
