V-scoring is a preferred method in PCB manufacturing and assembly due to its efficiency in separating boards. Not only is it a cost-effective solution, saving on materials and fabrication costs, but it also eliminates the need for a panel border to provide mechanical stability. This makes V-scoring panels ideal for improving production efficiency, whether for low-volume PCB prototype assembly projects or large-scale manufacturing.

However, it’s worth noting that V-scoring limits panelization to square or rectangular boards of uniform size, as the V-scoring machine cannot halt mid-process. For non-standard shapes, tab-routing offers an alternative but is typically more complex and costly.
